Gas permeability and compressive strength evaluation of porous Al2O3 supported membrane

The aim was to investigate the feasibility of using a device characterize permeability in porous substrates with low gas flux. Al2O3 supports were prepared by dry pressing 1 3 wt% polyethylene glycol (PEG) as pore-forming agent. green body partially sintered at 1300 ºC. CO2 used measure both pressure loss and flux passing through substrate. behavior analyzed Darcy Forchheimer models. correlation between Darcy’s Forchheimer’s permeabilities showed that may be membranes for micro, ultra, nanofiltration. mechanical resistance exhibited antagonistic dependencies relation porosity, being identified an optimized condition 2 PEG, which two properties presented high values.
